A presence that welcomes, helps us to give new meaning to what we experience, to bring integration and a meaningful path to follow with a horizon in sight, preparing us for the seeds that will come with what change brings.

A Transition Doula

The word doula has assumed different meanings historically which express someone who cares in the realm of intimacy and affection, contributing to create a comfortable and safe atmosphere in times of life when we feel vulnerable.

As a Transition Doula, I propose to accompany people and care for them through the challenging moments in life. Moments which are marked by fragility, and which mean major changes in the course of our personal history, those kinds of events in which we feel that “the rug has been pulled out from under our feet”. I seek to be a welcoming presence that helps to give new meaning to what we experience, to bring integration and a meaningful path to follow with a horizon in sight, preparing us for the seeds that will come with what change brings.

I provide personalised holistic care, focused on emotional, spiritual, informational and/or practical support in stages of life that are characterised by change, loss and bereavement, with a particular focus on supporting cancer patients, people in the process of grieving, at the end of life, suicide, pre-natal loss, marital separations and family intervention.

Compassionate presence and contemplative listening are the context for identifying felt needs and the connection/activation of appropriate internal and external resources, which contribute to the person’s integrity in the changes they will go through.

It is non-medical  support for people and families with a view to reducing stress, anxiety and increasing feelings of peace, comfort and empowerment in the face of the challenging circumstances in which they are living. It is characterised by closeness and continuity which, according to the wishes of each person, can include face-to-face support in their family environment and mediation with other services, amongst other things.

I intervene in all life cycles, particularly in the process of death. I provide information for informed and conscious decisions, accompanying the person who is dying and their family and friends, giving support in preparation for and after death.

In the support which evolves, I draw on other skills and experiences, which allow me to combine different services. I have extensive experience as a Social Worker, I specialise in Contemplative Spiritual Care, and Clinical Aromatherapy, basing myself  in different discourses, such as Deep Ecology and Art.

This accompaniment is evolved within the scope of an Integrative Model, provided by a team of holistic therapists, in connection with the services involved.
